Cuba
Fidel Castro (1926-????)
Fidel Castro is a Cuban revolutionary and politician. He held positions in the government such as Prime Minister of Cuba and later on President of Cuba. During which occupying both of these positions, he was also served as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and is the commander of the armed forces. Otherwise, Castro is known as a dictator.
In 1952, Castro ran against Fulgencio Batista (while the country was a democracy), but Batista halted the election and ended democracy in Cuba. This caused Castro to be furious, leading him to start a revolution against Batista. It was successful on January 1, 1959 and made himself the new leader of Cuba. This was called the Cuban Revolution, also known as Castro's Revolution.
Politically, Castro is a Marxist-Lennist. Under his control, the country transformed into a one-party socialist state which means industry and business were under control of the state. Castro, once in power, had said he would change the way the country was so that it wouldn't be the same way as when Batista was in power. Sadly those reforms never occured. As his years in power progressed, he became more dependent on the loyalty of his nation.
He retired from his presidency in 2008 and his brother Raul Castro took over the nation. Castro retired due to failing health issues and it is uncertain whether he is still alive today or not because nobody knows. hmmm??
